I swear, we're still here!

Sorry for the way overdue update. We've been busy with finals, holidays, sermons and internship work, and work in general for me. And now the semester has started up again for Caleb and I wonder if there ever really will be a break. Thankfully, we've been doing so great. God is continuing to bless us while we are here. Sure we have had some rough times, but we know that God is a great carpenter, sanding out our rough edges, to shape us into a clearer picture to reflect His glory.

This past week has been especially encouraging. On Sunday we heard stories of God's grace in people's lives. Members of our church came to the front and shared what God was doing in their lives. It was powerful and encouraging. Lately God has really been working on my heart. I know there are areas in my life that I've been trying to keep under my control, instead of handing it over to God. He has revealed these things to me, and it's amazing the healing and comfort and freedom that comes with repentance. God is our Father and He wants us to come to Him, in the good and the bad.

We have some wonderful friends here that we've been able to meet up with throughout the week for counsel and encouragement. I can see God working in not only our lives and our marriage, but also the lives of our friends. We also continue to minister to those outside of Karis. God is giving me many opportunities at work. It's truly a joy to go there everyday, as long as I keep my focus on what God wants for me. Many of my coworkers come to me for counsel and I pray that God is reaching their hearts through me.

We are so thankful for everything the Lord is doing. We are grateful for the blessing God gives us through you. It's encouraging to know we have a support base of prayer that we can come to, and it's ever humbling and encouraging to know that God has provided for our needs through your help.

Before I go into things to be praying for I want to take a moment to praise God for His provision and answering prayers. We serve a faithful God. We now have a laptop which has been such a blessing for Caleb as he studies and does homework back and forth from Moberly and Columbia. Caleb finished a great semester, maintaining his focus and feels encouraged and ready to tackle another. I did not get a management position but I was made full-time w/benefits which has been most likely even better. I am able to stay around the people I have gotten to know so well and continue to be a light in a dark place. God answers prayer, though not always in the way we think he should or want Him to. But we can trust that we serve a GOOD God, that does have our best interests in mind. He loves us.

Some things to be praying for:

-We would still like to purchase a used car. We'll need one come summer time when Caleb is no longer able to carpool. Pray we make wise decisions on this matter.

-Continue to pray for my coworkers, the Central students, and members of Karis. Please be praying for the hearts of the people that are in our lives, that they yearn to serve and love Christ always.

Caleb also wanted to post an update, which he will do so in a separate post.

Cheers and God Bless,
Kelly Bales
