First, I would like to say how much we greatly appreciate your patience, especially in light of our lack of communication. For a few months we did not have the internet, so blog updates were difficult. Now we have internet and no excuse! So thank you for bearing with us as we try to get better at keeping you posted on our lives.
Now as for what has been going on with us -- well there seems to be a lot. In August we moved to the apartment we now live in. It has been such a good move. It is bigger, nicer, more conducive to our financial needs, closer to my work and in an...interesting...neighborhood (a little rough around the edges) that is in need of the Gospel. We both feel that God has blessed us in this move and we are attentive to see how God will use us in this place.
Another move that has occurred has been that of our church. Karis, in pursuit of a permanent space to meet has moved to another temporary location which has exciting opportunities. until further notice, we will be sharing space with Calvary Baptist Church. It's been so neat to see the body of Christ working together to serve each other, the community, and God. Our service follows theirs and takes place during their Sunday School. Although we will miss our presence in the downtown district of Columbia, we are thankful and looking forward to what God will do while we are in this place.
In other news.... CALEB IS ALMOST DONE WITH SCHOOL! As you may already know, I am super excited about that, and I'm pretty sure he is too! As of right now, he's hard at work in what has become the toughest semester. He is taking the hardest Greek and Hebrew classes at the same time, and also has his final paper on Sanctification. To graduate, he needs to take one more Hebrew class next semester, but he will take a few more in addition to get a little more learning in. He will also be picking up his old part time job in the CCCB Bookstore for a little more income.
Along with school, Caleb's internship is keeping him busy. He is leading a cohort for Porterbrook, which is an accredited study course in Karis. He has already been through the program last year, and is leading our group this year (I'm taking the course now). Porterbrook covers four different areas: Gospel living, Reading God's story, Missional Community, and apologetics. It is challenging and encouraging to go through this with our group of seven.
As for me, I am continuing to work hard as the department manager of Frozen and Dairy at Walmart. It can be demanding and difficult at times, but I am thankful for it. I'm also continuing with my exercise group of girls called the Warrior Daisies. In October we competed in the Warrior Dash (a 5K with obstacles and mud!), and we are looking forward to more races. But in the meantime, we treasure our times of encouraging one another and sharing our hearts...while exercising them too.
Some things that you can be praying for:
-Caleb's last semester. Pray it goes well so he can graduate. Also pray for his job situation during the semester.
-Our health. Caleb's knee has been hurting for about a year, making it difficult to exercise and sometimes to walk or stand on it. Also, I have recently had to go to the doctor a lot...Pray God works through that situation for the best.
-Pray our relationships continue to grow to God's glory, with our brothers and sisters and also those who do not know God.
